Everton have reportedly opened talks with Napoli to sign Danish international winger Jesper Lindstrom
Everton have been linked with a move for Jesper Lindstrom but what could the player potentially bring to the side? The 24-year-old is a Danish international winger who joined Napoli from Eintracht Frankfurt for €30million last summer.
When it comes to looking at what sort of winger Lindstrom is, we can use Comparisonator’s Virtual Transfer tool to correlate his statistics from last season against players already turning out in the Premier League in his position. While there was an absence of goals in his play, the Dane would be ranked fifth among his English top flight peers on the AI Defensive Index with a score of 30.66 behind leader Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United plus Everton’s Dwight McNeil in fourth on 33.01.
He’d be fourth for interceptions on 2.85, an area topped by McNeil on 3.04; eighth for picking-ups on 2.85 behind leader Lucas Paqueta of West Ham United on 4.15; and ninth for successful defensive actions with a 56% success rate, although McNeil is again first on 60%. The Blues had a deal in place for Hull City’s Jaden Philogene and believed the player was eager to join them but he too is now set to move to Villa, despite leaving them for more regular football less than a year ago. A winger remains a priority for Everton but curiously Lindstrom – like both Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell – is a boyhood fan of their neighbours.
