Today is MLKDay, and his life and legacy are being celebrated with events across our area. elijahwestbrook reports.
Although the civil rights icon is no longer here with us, his legacy is still being felt. "I believe Dr. King's life and legacy show us the way and we should pay attention,"On Sunday, Biden marked the holiday with an historic trip to Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King once preached. He became the first sitting president to deliver a Sunday morning sermon there.
This comes as Monday our area will follow the rest of the nation in honoring the civil rights icon, which include a day of service in the Bronx starting at 10 a.m., Brooklyn archdiocese's breakfast and prayer service, also beginning at 10 a.m., and over in New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy will conduct a day of service.
