The father-son duo, who first made Emmys history in 2020, will do so again as they preside over the 2024 Emmys.
When they take the stage in September, they will make history as the first father-son duo to host the Emmys.“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” the Levys said in a statement shared by the Academy. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.
Both Eugene Levy, 77, and Dan Levy, 41, won Emmys for “Schitt’s Creek” in 2020, when COVID-19 precautions had winners accepting awards remotely or from places other than Los Angeles as part of a virtual ceremony. For the cast of their show, that meant athat year, setting a record for the most wins for one season of a comedy series, including the award for outstanding comedy series all four acting awards.
Dan created the series with Eugene, a comedy veteran. After the Pop TV show was acquired by Netflix in 2017, its popularity surged, resulting in a swell of Emmys support for its sixth and final season.
