The eThekwini Municipality has provided a major update on closed Durban beaches. Here's what you should know...
EThekwini Municipality acting mayor Nkosenhle Madlala has confirmed that the Durban beachesOver ten beaches were temporarily closed due to high levels of E.coli recently but eight have been reopen.on Thursday, 5 December, Madlala said Durban has 23 beaches, and only two were closed entirely due to high levels of E. Coli, which are Reunion and Anstey’s beaches. However, by the next week, they will be operating.
“We can assure our visitors that those two will be open again by the coming weekend. We will have our fully fledged 23 beaches that will be opened,” he said. Madlala said they were giving daily updates about the two beaches that were closed. Workers were on the ground fixing burst pipes, which affected the quality of the water.
