Growthpoint and Autocast sign agreements with the electricity trader.

Licensed electricity trader Etana is one step closer to realising its ambition of becoming the first green utility in South Africa that buys electricity from multiple independent power producers and sells it to various end users.

Autocast is the second off-taker to put pen to paper after property group Growthpoint signed a PPA with the trader in January for 195GWh that will supply 70% of the demand in Growthpoint’s participating buildings.According to Etana CEO Evan Rice, this is the start of the first phase of Etana’s evolution to become a green utility, almost like a mini Eskom, selling to multiple customers but dealing only in renewable energy.
