Power utility Eskom says that recoveries in generation capacity will allow it to suspend load shedding every day until the evening peak.
Breakdowns are currently at 16,056MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 2,407MW. In the same period, a generation unit each at Duvha, Hendrina, Kendal, Lethabo and Matla power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns. According to its winter outlook, if Eskom can keep outages below 15,000MW, its base plan for winter shows it will be able to keep load shedding between stage 3 and stage 5.
