Stage 5 will be in effect from 5 am to 4 pm on Saturday, thereafter stage 6 will be implemented until 5 am on Sunday.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom will reduce load shedding to stage 5 on Saturday but has warned that the grid is nowhere near where it should be for load shedding to be lifted.
The power utility said that due to a lower weekend demand and the return of a generation unit each at Kendal and Lethabo power stations, stage 5 would be implemented from 5 am until 4 pm on Saturday, thereafter stage 6 would make a comeback. The utility’s Menzi Mngomezulu said further breakdowns may see the load shedding stage change at short notice.
"The delays in returning a unit to service at Kendal, Tutuka, and two units at Medupi power stations have contributed to the capacity constraints and the team is working around the clock to ensure that these units are returned to service as soon as possible."
