ESKOM LIVE | Stage 2 load shedding for Wednesday and Thursday evening -
Eskom is implementing Stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 to 24:00 on Wednesday and Thursday.
Some generation units at other power stations are expected to return to service over the next few days. However, should there be any further loss of generation capacity over the next three days, or should some units fail to return to service as anticipated, load shedding may be required to be implemented at short notice, Eskom said.
Government's two main objectives is to improve the performance of Eskom's power stations, while adding as much new generation capacity to the grid as possible. To strengthen the power utility's operations, Gordhan added that former Eskom managers would mentor younger Eskom employees by allowing the transference of skills and knowledge sharing.In order to rollout renewable energy power as quick as possible, Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Minister Barbara Creecy shared plans to streamline the environmental impact assessment process to have projects get off the ground quicker.
So far the energy crisis committee, which includes officials from Eskom has already started meeting regularly and eight work streams have been established to ensure coordination across government, said Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele.The briefing has ended.Gordhan said an intervention of getting additional power online could take between 12 months and 36 months to achieve.

A shortlist is ready.
