After over 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply, Eskom warns of a high risk of load shedding at short notice. The power utility cites several breakdowns requiring extended repair times as the reason for the potential setback. Eskom says they have used all emergency reserves and are closely monitoring the situation, with the possibility of load shedding up to Stage 4 over the weekend.

JOHANNESBURG - While South Africans ease into the last weekend of January, Eskom dropped a bombshell warning of a high risk of load shedding.

After more than 10 months of uninterrupted electricity supply, the power utility said on Friday there was a high risk of load shedding"at short notice".“This is a potentially temporary setback.
