Embattled power utility Eskom has announced a ramping up of rolling black outs to stage 5 “until further notice”.Eskom’s spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says stage 5 will be implemented from midday on Tuesday.
“Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented from 12:00 this afternoon until 21:00 tonight. Thereafter stage 6 loadshedding will be implemented until 5:00 tomorrow morning. “Stage 5 load shedding will then be implemented continuously from 5:00 on Wednesday until further notice.”Mantshantsha says six generating units have suffered breakdowns in the past 24 hours.
“A unit each at Duvha and Hendrina has not yet returned to service. In addition, a generating unit each at Matla and Arnot had been returned to service.”
