Three generations of participants and supporters of the Eric Jessome Memorial Kensington, P.E.I.-Bedford, Que., Under-13 Hockey Exchange were honoured at Credit Union Centre on Jan. 28. Representing those three generations are this year’s participants, from left: Makenzi Verhulp, Cali Bernard and Peyton Gill. - Jason Simmonds/SaltWire NetworkIt creates ties that bind – sometimes for generations. That was evident in Kensington last weekend, during a special ceremony.

“It’s more of a friendship thing than a hockey thing but it’s nice to have hockey bring friends together,” said Josh Gill. “Dad still keeps in touch with a lot of the guys . “It was exciting to meet my billet,” said Cali, who also received some sound advice from Uncle Jordan. “He said have a great time.”

“It’s hard to believe it’s still going on,” said Jordan Mayhew. “Even thinking back to ’08 for myself, it seems like so long ago and for Dad to play and now Cali, it definitely kind of rings your bell a little bit just in terms of how long this thing has been going on… It’s great for the communities and brings a little bit of business in.”
