His company biography said that he oversaw the transfer of drainage operations in Edmonton in 2017, meaning Epcor runs the city’s entire “water utility cycle,” and likewise led the corporation through the upgrade of the Regina Wastewater Treatment Plant and its expansion into the natural gas and electricity market in Ontario.Article content
The company embarked on a “robust and detailed succession process for the CEO role,” but ended up back where it started, resolving to hand the torch to current vice-president for commercial services, John Elford. Elford holds an MBA from the University of Alberta and has led a number of the company’s other business areas, including electricity, water and corporate services. Elford has also served on the boards of the Art Gallery of Alberta and United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.
