Ontario Premier Doug Ford wants more full\u002Dtime officers on TTC, urged Torontonians not to vote for candidates who support defunding police.
Any councillor who had previously voted to decrease funding to the police would not be a suitable mayor, he said.
“All I’m saying is that if you don’t support our police and we’re seeing stabbings in the subway, car thefts coming out of our gazoo,” Ford said.
“We can’t have the bad guys shooting up the streets and all of a sudden going in front of the courts and getting let out literally the next day,” Ford said. “We don’t want people going around our communities shooting up the streets…. When we arrest these criminals they need to go to jail and they need to go to jail for a long time.”
