It was Opening Day and all of New York City was beckoning. How did enosarris make the most of his time? 'I tried to cram as many different beers and sandwiches into my gullet as possible in between games.' Here's what a perfect weekend looks like:
) were good. The baseball talk was rapid, and the beers flowed, from a quality list that made it hard to pick. Three’s in Brooklyn had been on my list to visit for their great crisp, light beers, but it was time for IPAs and this juice fest hit the spot.A classic bar! With brass and bar stools! And a killer list. This wasn’t the first time I’d had some Hill Farmstead in New York, nor would it be the last, but they’re a great brewery that draws the eye.
There’s a market called the Market Line right by the Delancey/Essex FMJ and Z line stop, and it’s filled with all sorts of beautiful food. There’s a place inside called Nordic Provisions with like 30 kinds of smoked lox that were hard to pass by. But I was headed downstairs for breakfast, which was a Bing Sandwich. A crunchy scallion pancake wrapped with lettuce, bell peppers, beef bulgogi, the Bing was like an Asian gyro, and it was perfect.
The best part is you can order it directly from the market to your seat at The Grand Delancey, which was a beautiful hotel-style bar with a killer list. I was starting to get a little creaky, so I kept it light with a Suarez Family pilsner. They are so, so, so good at this.Making my way toward the Yankees game, I made a stop in Harlem. Turns out, I’d timed my visit poorly because Harlem Hops had just opened up a wildly successful operation by the High Line that had drawn some beer away, but that was fine because I discovered a wonderful golden ale from New Jersey’s Montclair Brewery featuring the Baobab.
