For the first time, Danny Cipriani opens up about his time at Gloucester and his mental health.
Cipriani, who also played for Gloucester, spoke to BBC Radio Gloucestershire at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
"That doesn't ever leave you, it was the biggest catalyst for me to get things off my chest," he said.The call led to a break down in front of players at a team meeting. "That was it for me. It was breaking point. I couldn't carry that anymore because of the way I felt. I felt compelled to do it." Cipriani said he had hoped to be selected to play for England again in 2018, but instead took a 60% pay cut to come to Gloucester.
