A traditional riverside inn deep in the Lancashire countryside may be remote, but it hasn't been missed by 'hotel bible'.
The long-running and respected guide recognises outstanding hotels, inns and B&Bs throughout Britain & Ireland, which have been recommended by guests and professional inspectors. The annual publication features more than 700 properties.Sitting on the banks of the River Hodder the manor house boasts decedent rooms and a menu crafted by chef Jamie Cadman. It is is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and is famed for once hosting Queen Elizabeth II for her first ever pub lunch in 2006.
You can enjoy a hearty meal, pint of local ale and a night's stay at the historic manor house, which features rooms overlooking the fells and open countryside, with plenty of livestock grazing nearby.
