A convicted sex offender who is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl after he was released on parole will remain behind bars for now.

Kelvin Hunt, 47, was arraigned in Rochester City Court Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, on several charges, including predatory sexual assault and burglary, for allegedly breaking into a Rochester home and raping a 14-year-old girl inside Friday, Feb. 2, 2024.

Emotions ran high in Rochester City Court Tuesday as Kelvin Hunt, 47, entered the courtroom, with the mother of his alleged victim expressing her anguish in court, calling Hunt a sick man. "These are very serious allegations," said Monroe County Assistant District Attorney Janna Jehlen. "There were very serious crimes committed against a child. It's extremely upsetting for the community when things like this happen."Hunt was deemed ineligible for bail due to the multiple felony convictions on his record. In 1995, Hunt was convicted of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl. As a result, he's now a registered Level 2 sex offender in New York state.

According to Lyman-Torres, 90 percent of child victims of sexual abuse are hurt by someone they know.
