Dame Kelly Holmes reflected on Queen Elizabeth II and her bond with the military in an emotional tribute following her death.
The 52-year-old star noted that there is a ‘very personal’ link between the military and the Queen, and she noted how many people will mourning in their own way.
She noted the way both her military and sporting careers have been tied to the Queen in a profound way. ‘That is literally what you stand by, why you join, why you fight. You’re fighting for the country but the country is led by our Queen, and our Queen as serving us as people. That’s why it’s very special,’ she explained.
