Emmerdale star Will Ash has shown his support for his cousin who actually stars in Coronation Street. The actor, who actually starred in the ITV soap himself aged 10 and most famously as Chris Mead in Waterloo Road, is related to Peter Ash.
They are watching the long-running storyline involving the character unfold after he was tragically diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. MND does not usually affect the senses such as sight, sound and feeling but it can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe.
However, the devastating news, however, came spilling out on his sister Gemma Winter's wedding day after his partner Billy Mayhew also found out about the diagnosis after following him to court where he had his car-stealing case quashed due to his illness. He added: "I saw the episode where he got the wheelchair and he was just brilliant. I don't watch that much telly but I was round at my mum's and we watched it together. He's doing fantastic. It's a shame actually that he's eventually going to have to leave because I think he's been brilliant and he's a top lad."
