Emmerdale's Ross Barton returns to the village after six years away and actor Michael Parr has shared what fans can expect from his character's exciting comeback
Ross Barton, who left the Dales six years ago for a fresh start after enduring a traumatic acid attack and losing three family members, is back with a bang – or rather, a punch. Michael Parr, who has reprised his role, reveals that not much has changed for Ross, except for his new boxing hobby. "Ross has taken up bare-knuckle fighting. It’s a very violent and traumatic job, but there’s a financial motive,” says Michael, 38.
Ross makes a comeback to Emmerdale after a boxing match with Billy Fletcher , but his return isn't exactly met with open arms. "I’d say Ross gets mostly a negative reaction from the locals," Michael Parr chuckles, "But he does have some fans out there, and he has his son, Moses . The big difference there is that when Ross left, there was no Mack . Mack has become a father figure in Moses’ life and that eats away at Ross.
With most of his on-screen family gone, Michael is keen to see more Bartons in the village. "I’d love to have Anthony back, he really is like my older brother. He’s one of my best friends and we speak all the time. We need more Bartons. I’d love to have Nana Barton join – could we have Sue Johnston play her?" Since leaving Emmerdale six years ago, Michael has been quite the globetrotter, living in LA and India.
