ITV soap Emmerdale has emerged as the third most complained about show of the year so far, with a harrowing domestic abuse storyline attracting the most upset from viewers
Emmerdale has landed itself in hot water this year, sparking outrage with its graphic depiction of abuse involving characters Tom King and Belle Dingle.
Since the beginning of 2024, Emmerdale has been bombarded with a staggering 1,189 complaints to Ofcom, with a significant 826 of those focusing on the episode broadcasted on May 27th, which showcased Tom's heinous actions towards Piper. The tension reached a peak when viewers suspected Tom might have killed Piper after spotting blood on the cottage walls, only to discover it was actually Belle's blood, the result of Tom hitting her and causing her to fall into broken glass.
