A lethal substance would be prescribed to the individual under the legislationEmmanuel Macron has announced a bill allowing 'assisted dying' under 'strict conditions' to be presented to the Council of Ministers in April.

The substance can be requested if the adult is able to ask for it and if their suffering is not able to be relieved. Medical experts will have 15 days to respond to the request for help to die and an approval will be valid for three months, during which time the patient can retract, Macron said.
