Dramatic scenes yesterday
A huge police cordon was put in place around a Lancashire shopping centre after a man climbed up metal bars at-least three-storeys high to stage a protest.
A large cordon was put in place resulting in the closure of a number of businesses and dozens of emergency services were put on standby, including Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service. Four white banners were put up around the shopping centre which read "Free Mally Jnr" and "Justice for Junior".Police negotiators were sent inside the building to actively try to resolve the incident as crowds gathered outside.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "We were called at 1.29pm today to the Concourse, Skelmersdale, to a report of a concern for safety. Officers attended and found a man protesting on the roof of the building.
