Dictator. Criminal. Greedy. Those are some of the descriptors fired in writing at former Manitoba premier Brian Pallister by members of the general public in May 2020 as the government was facing the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Those are some of the descriptors fired in writing at former Manitoba premier Brian Pallister by members of the general public in May 2020 as the government was facing the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“You are giving the green light to spread this virus and I resent that,” reads an email from a person who opposed a relaxation of some restrictions earlier in the month. “You are not a leader. You are a very greedy politician.” The correspondence received by the premier’s office over the two days was divided — 24 called for a further easing or outright lifting of restrictions while five called for a continuation or tightening of the rules.
One person called for the immediate reopening of casinos. Another asked the premier to ease restrictions on visiting long-term care homes.
