The Ella Lenentine rink from the Cornwall Curling Club won the 2023 Pepsi P.E.I. junior women’s curling championship at the Crapaud Community Curling Club on Jan. 15. The Schut rink entered the provincials with a goal of winning the team’s third straight provincial junior championship. “It’s definitely something I never thought we’d really do, especially here a young team. To go undefeated, it’s something special.”Team Lenentine will represent P.E.I. at the U18 nationals in Timmons, Ont., Feb. 6-11 and at the 2023 P.E.I. Canada Games later in the month. Then, Lenentine and Schut will wear P.E.I.’s colours at the New Holland Canadian junior curling championships in Rouyn-Noranda, Que., March 25 to April 2.
“We are at the young end of the age scale, so stay patient and play how we can,” said Ella, who credited the team’s success to a strong team chemistry.
