Elizabeth Holmes gave her explanation to jurors Tuesday of why Theranos started using third-party devices to test patient blood
Elizabeth Holmes told jurors Tuesday that Theranos started using third-party devices to test patient blood because the volume of samples was too much for its proprietary devices to handle.
Ms. Holmes testified that Theranos's devices were meant to be used on-site where patients were located, with results being run as soon as the blood was drawn. "We were trying to figure out this issue," she said, of "huge numbers of samples coming in at the same time." "This made a lot more sense," she testified, because "you could process all those samples at the same time."
