“This is well deserved, frankly, and we wanted to make sure that kinship caregivers would receive, or be eligible for, receiving the affordability payments, just like any other parent,” said Children’s Services Minister Mickey Amery.Speaking Saturday on 630 CHED’s Your Province Your Premier call-in radio show, Premier Danielle Smith said she expected there to be “a couple of glitches” with the roll-out, but urged Albertans to be patient.
Smith was also asked if the affordability payments were about gaining favour before the election, but responded that too many people are suffering while the province enjoys a surplus.
