LA County has just one lone GOP seat left in Congress, and Mike Garcia fights a three-time foe to keep it.
Incumbent Mike Garcia had 51.84% to his opponent Christy Smith’s 48.16% in the 27th Congressional District race, in early returns from the L.A. County registrar’s office, released at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.
Earlier, Smith had 53.76% to Garcia’s 46.24%, in the first round of results. That release was composed entirely of vote-by-mail ballots received before Election Day.for the seat representing a northern section of the San Fernando Valley and the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.a nail-biter that has attracted national attention
All 435 districts in the House of Representatives are up for reelection and Democrats hold a 220-212 advantage, with three vacancies. In the June 2022 primary Garcia had a razor-sharp lead over Smith, just 333 votes and the third-closest outcome of any congressional race in the country this year.
