A man called a dispatcher a little after 3:30 a.m. and said he had just killed his wife and was going to take his own life, police said. Officers responded to the 3700 block of North Hills Court, near U.S. Highway 377, and found the man and woman dead in the driveway behind their home. The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the woman as Joyce Hartzell Simpson, 80, and said she died about 3:50 a.m. from gunshot wounds of the torso.
