An Elden Ring player has used the game's character creation options to recreate David Schwimmer's Ross from the classic sitcom Friends. The process of creating a character and leveling them up in Elden Ring is similar to other FromSoftware titles, and the ability to customize and direct these characters' progress is something that is lauded by many fans of these games.
Although FromSoftware's previous title Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice featured a preset protagonist, Elden Ring offered a vast array of personalization options. Players begin by selecting which class they would like to assume, which determines their starting gear and stats, though it doesn't lock them into a certain style of play for the entirety of the game. After this, however, is where the deeper customization begins.
As might be expected, the comment section of the post is full of Ross Geller quotes such as"we were on a break!","my sandwich?!", and"pivot!". Considering the dark themes of Elden Ring, it's somewhat surprising that there is so much overlap between the game's fanbase and that of the comparatively lighthearted Friends. After all, one is hardly reminded of relatable urban dating and career struggles while taking down mad gods and cursed creatures.
Whether or not there is a thriving community of Friends fans within the Elden Ring community, this post shows how respectable the game's character creation system is. The detail present in this virtual Ross Geller's face is impressive and certainly a far cry from the early 2010s graphics of the original Dark Souls. Hopefully, more Elden Ring players will share their interesting or silly creations in the future.
