The contest saw participation from well-spoken pupils from Coltness High, Lesmahagow High, St Margaret's High in Airdrie, and Stonelaw High.
The eighth annual public speaking competition for schools in Lanark shire, organised by the Lanark shire Lieutenancy was held at Airdrie 's Sir John Wilson Town Hall.

The competition highlighted the exceptional standards achieved by all participating schools, focusing on the importance of citizenship and the benefits of immigration. Lady Haughey CBE praised the teams, saying: "All four had obviously researched citizenship extremely well and thoroughly prepared their presentations.
