Causes of the accidents include reckless driving, speed and overtaking on a barrier line.
The Easter weekend has claimed eight people’s lives so far during five separate accidents on Limpopo’s roads, reportsSpokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matome Taueatsoala says all five accidents occurred on Friday night in the Sekhukhune, Mopani and Capricorn Districts.The first incident occurred on the R518 near Specon in the Capricorn District, when a 40-year-old man was knocked over by a motorist.
Taueatsoala added that two passengers were critically injured during the accident, and that the cause was speeding. The patients were taken to the Sekororo Hospital for treatment. Furthermore, three people were killed on the R81 near Giyani when a VW sedan overtook on a barrier line and collided head-on with an oncoming bakkie. One person was seriously injured, while two other people were critically injured and taken to hospital to receive treatment.
