Although this was the second highest number on record for a final quarter, it was 600 000 below the record 4.2 million that had been expected, Issa said in an interview on the sidelines of a travel fair in Berlin. Visitor numbers have since picked up, Issa said, with 2.12 million tourists visiting in the first two months of the year, an 8% increase over the same period last year.
