An eerie ghost town in Scotland looks like it has been frozen in time for decades

With derelict buildings and boarded up windows, an eerie ghost town in Scotland looks like it has been frozen in time for decades.

However, anyone who visits the 'lost town' these days are unlikely to see another face on the grounds, Edinburgh Live reports. Built in 1902, Bangour Village was supposed to be a ‘new kind’ of mental hospital based on the Continental Colony System - aimed to give patients a positive and pleasant environment, by building a series of villas for living in.

The village started to decline in the late ‘80s. After St John’s Hospital in Livingston opened in 1989, the former hospital soon closed and was subsequently demolished.
