The rape and murder of the little girl cannot be seen as just another crime. She mustn’t be just another statistic

In April 2019, the six-year-old from Elim in the Western Cape’s Overberg district became yet another statistic in SA’s horrific rape and abuse pandemic. Details of her death played out in court last week.

The man who preyed on her, Reagan Zietsman, kidnapped her from her father’s home, took her to a field behind a school about 1km away, and raped her. He covered her mouth during the abuse.
