From April 1, 2022 until the contract was cancelled on Oct. 30, the hotel was used by 10 people for the period of their quarantines. That means taxpayers paid $680,000 for each person quarantined. The hotel was used as a quarantine facility from June 2020 to October 2022. During that time, it housed 1,490 people at a cost of almost $31 million — or about $21,000 per person.
Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos spouted insulting bafflegab when asked about it in Question Period on Tuesday.
