The performance by federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra at a parliamentary committee probing delays at Canada’s major airports and land border crossings…
On Friday, Alghabra tried to shrug off blame and pointed fingers at the airlines, airports, travellers — anyone except his government — for the delays. He called it “frustrating,” but insisted progress was being made as more airport staff is hired. He said more travellers are now arriving with the app completed.
The union says it’s only because their members are helping travellers with the app that they’re able to bring up the numbers of people who successfully complete it. So the app is creating more work for border agents and is still slowing the entry process.Article content Failure to fill out the app can result in a fully-vaccinated person being forced to quarantine and undergo COVID testing. Meanwhile, Canada is becoming a world laughingstock as the country that still clings to burdensome travel restrictions long after the rest of the world has moved on from COVID mandates.
