A cute new image shows Edgar Wright reunited with his Cornetto Trilogy stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to celebrate Frost's birthday.
Filmmaker Edgar Wright has reunited with Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for Frost’s 49th birthday. To date, the three friends have made some of the defining films of their careers together and are widely known for The Cornetto Trilogy, which began with Shaun of the Dead in 2004 and completed with 2013’s The World’s End. Though all three continue to find success with their own projects, fans are eager to see them reunite.
In the early days of their careers, Wright, Pegg, and Frost worked together on the short-lived but immensely entertaining TV series Spaced. The bond the three forged gained momentum with the release of Wright’s second feature-length release, Shaun of the Dead. What was meant to be a small indie horror homage to the zombie genre became a massive hit, and with it came the start of The Cornetto Trilogy.
Clearly it’s a night out for Pegg, Frost, and Wright, but fans are always going to use any sign of the three together to boost theories regarding a new project. These theories have grown exponentially in recent weeks after Pegg spoke about the possibility of working with Wright and Frost once again. The Mission: Impossible star explained that he and Wright want to write something together again, but that their busy schedules make it difficult to work out.
Whether or not Wright, Pegg, and Frost get together again and bring fans a sequel to Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz or create something new entirely, it’s great to see them enjoying one another’s company again. Should the conversation have turned to work while they celebrated Frost’s birthday, it’s anyone’s guess just what was said.
