We found out where the project is up to
The Eden Project will soon begin construction work for its new Morecambe site. Originally called Eden Project North, it has since been renamed Eden Project Morecambe and is expected to help put the seaside town back on the plan.
When complete, the visitor attraction is expected to bring in 750,000 people a year and provide a huge economic injection to Morecambe and the surrounding Lancaster area. There is also expected to be a major boost for businesses in the surrounding area with hotels, bars and restaurants all likely to see increases in footfall.
What will be there? Designed to offer a mixture of education and entertainment, Eden Project Morecambe will be a ticketed visitor attraction that has indoor and outdoor areas. The buildings will include shell-shaped pavilions connected to provide a sand dune lanscape appearance, with a rolling roof covered in coastal plants.
The eco-tourism attraction will have exhibits, performance space, learning, play and immersive experiences, alongside three café-restaurants, a visitor centre and retail space. Overall, the range of indoor and outdoor experiences are designed to connect people with Morecambe
