OPINION | Besides load shedding, we currently have the worst water, sanitation & sewage crisis across the country since 1994. For this reason, it is the DA and the Economic Freedom Fighters who stand most to benefit from a failure, writes Ebrahim Harvey.

Under the current socio-economic conditions, the opposition has the best chance to claim victory in the next elections, writes the author.Besides load shedding, we currently have the worst water, sanitation and sewage crisis across the country since 1994.

Of that there must be no doubt at all, so huge and indeed in many respects catastrophic those crises have been, with especially devastating consequences for the black working-class majority in townships across the country. South Africa, has life been so hard for the very same people who bore the brunt by far of the racist apartheid regime and who, with savage irony, have also been the chief support base of the ANC since the Defiance Campaign of the 1950s.
