Photo: FileDr Rolene Wagner starts her new job tomorrow as superintendent-general of the beleaguered department of health in the Eastern Cape, with high hopes and big plans to turn its fortunes around.
Wagner comes to the top job at a time when leadership is critically needed to steer the ship in the right direction, following the departure of her predecessor, Dr Thobile Mbengashe, who resigned in September in the wake of the R10 million ambulance motorbike scandal, which is the subject of a Special Investigating Unit probe.
