A driver was forced to "rectify" the illegal mounting of bikes on his car after being pulled over on the M6.
Posting details about the incident on Twitter the force's tactical ops team said: "On this beautiful bank holiday weekend PLEASE ensure that your travels are safe and legal - we don’t want to be spoilsports! Unfortunately MN31 sighted this car on the M6 near Carnforth in an obviously illegal condition. £100 to the driver and must be rectified before continuing."Driving without plate numbers on your car is against the law in the UK.
All current vehicle registration plates must be displayed in accordance with The Road Vehicles Regulations 2001. Characters on number plates purchased from 1 September 2001 must conform to set specifications as to height, width, spacing, stroke and margins.
