EastEnders' Shona McGarty has played Whitney Dean on the BBC One soap for 16 years - but she's set to leave after being at the heart of some of the show's biggest storylines. While the soap star hasn't revealed what she'll do next, a brand expert has predicted that she thinks she might take a break from acting - and sign up for Strictly.
Rochelle added that Shona could mix acting with singing and maybe go to the West End. "She has also shown her singing talents and could even combine her acting and singing and head to the West End. I could see her in a show like Chicago, Grease or Hairspray. Either way, I feel that she will take a break, build her personal profile and have fun with it."
Her character then discovered that her baby had Edwards syndrome and omphalocele, leading her to decide to terminate her pregnancy. The storyline involving Whitney and Tony was the first time a UK soap opera tackled the subject of child sexual abuse. The storyline was developed with advice and approval from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children .
