East Hempfield Township supervisors said the funding will be halted until they have a written agreement from the Lancaster Public Library that it will never host a Drag Queen Story Hour.

Supervisors in a Lancaster County township voted Wednesday to suspend funding from a public library. However, this funding will affect the Mountville library. It's one of the libraries in the Library System of Lancaster County, along with Lancaster Public Library. The funds allocated from East Hempfield Township — which total $26,700 — would have gone to the Mountville location.More than 100 people attended the meeting for the discussion of the issue.

'The libraries are very, very low funded. They really need this money at this Mountville library that serves so many people. It's very sad that we're doing this in our community. We need to work together. The library is really a source for everybody,' she said. The Mountville library said taking away these funds will result in the loss of services, staff and programs.
