Earliest football can start in Spain is last week of May - LaLiga president

“This is a health pandemic, but also an economic pandemic,” LaLiga’s president Javier Tebas told a media conference on Wednesday.

Tebas was discussing the current focus and priorities that face Spain’s national league as they plan for a return to the football pitches.

However, Tebas made it clear that the decision to allow fans back into stadiums can only be taken by the Spanish health authorities. “In the coming days, almost all clubs will have come to a solution either via the government or internally,” Tebas said. “But our aim is to ensure that the measures we create are sufficient for a healthy football industry, without calling for [financial] government support.”
