The office said that"Sills engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will," adding that it was reported immediately and investigated thoroughly.The team is about to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on Feb. 12.
In a statement provided to the Washington Examiner, the Philadelphia Eagles said,"The organization is aware of the legal matter involving Josh Sills. We have been in communication with the league office and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time." According to the indictment, filed on Wednesday, Sills is charged with the first-degree felony of rape that it says occurred on Dec. 5, 2019.
He engaged"in sexual contact with M.M." after he"purposely compelled her to submit by force or threat of force," according to the document released by Yost's office. The second charge, kidnapping, is also a first-degree felony. Sills is alleged to have removed"M.M. from the place where she was found or restrain[ed] the liberty of her for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a felony" by using"force, threat, or deception."A press release from Yost's office noted that Sills was issued a summons and is expected to appear in Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 16.
