Winless in three road games, the team has earned all six points at home.
“We have to make our home-field advantage count, be strong at home, because playing on the road is always difficult,” Houston midfielder Héctor Herrera said. “We know that is a team that plays the ball well, that has good players.” At San Jose, Houston conceded a penalty kick early in each half. An injury to defender Tate Schmitt caused the Dynamo to adjust their backline toward the end of the first half. Schmitt, who scored in a 2-1 season-opening loss at Cincinnati, is out for Saturday’s game with a knee injury. Schmitt is tied for the second-most crosses on the team with 16.
“As much as you don’t want to rely on depth and you want everybody available, it’s a good thing, especially early , when you’re still identifying your team,” Olsen said.
