The 12-year-old walked her first red carpet alongside the NBA star and Gabrielle Union.
The family took the stage to honor friends Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis, the couple that stars in the Netflix series “Styling Hollywood,” with the Business Leadership Award.
“When our [then-]8-year-old daughter, Zaya Wade, came home and said she had something to tell us, when she came out to us, as a family, we admitted that weren’t as educated about the LGBTQ+ community as we should have been,” Dwyane told the crowd, according toDwyane Wade, Zaya Wade and Gabrielle Union attend the Better Brothers Los Angeles 6th annual Truth Awards in Los Angeles, California.
He went onto add that Bolden and Curtis “helped us navigate the right language to use, the questions to ask, and what to listen for,” and advised on smaller things, like designing Zaya’s bedroom to feel like a “sanctuary.”to present the award to “her chosen godfathers,” remarking on stage that she was “so proud” to be a part of the evening.
