DWP staff to strike along with 100,000 other civil servants including passports departments

Thousands of civil servants who work in departments including passports and the DWP are believed to have voted in favour of strike action.

The PCS announce that 126 had passed the threshold for strikes, including the Home Office and passports office according to today's ballot results. General Secretary Mark Serwotka said: “The government must look at the huge vote for strike action across swathes of the Civil Service and realise it can no longer treat its workers with contempt.

Mr Serwotka has previously described the action as the "most significant ballot for strike action in our history", the Mirror reports. This follows past threats from former PM Boris Johnson to reduce the size of the civil service by a fifth back o 2016 levels - with a headcount cut of 91,000.
