The DWP has seen protests block roads outside Parliament as critics demonstrated over benefits claimants being failed
The Department for Work and Pensions has sparked protests after declaring a new rule that will check if people are fit to work, which some have claimed causes 'inhumane deaths'. People protesting outside Parliament have blocked roads, saying that the DWP is failing vulnerable claimants.
She also said: "A social safety net actually helps disabled people to take part in what activity we can, including paid employment. People pay their taxes expecting them to go towards supporting those most in need," reports Birmingham Live.
The DWP plans to change the work capability assessment, making thousands ineligible for the extra support with plans to eventually scrap them. It means claimants will be forced into work in a brutal blow for many across the country.
